A MAP 150 Demonstration Project

Project Overview
Following the lead of popular online social networks, CitiZing! combines the power of social networking with new decision-making processes. This combination will lead to more effective public problem-solving.

• Citizing! will provide citizens with direct ways to get involved in issues they care about, connect with others who have similar concerns, and find out more.
• CitiZing! will offer public agencies and other organizations easy-to-use tools to create clearer roles and expectations, greater transparency and better outcomes in citizen participation processes.
• CitiZing! will create a space where citizens can collaborate together and bring forth their concerns in a productive and effective way
• CitiZing! will offer a variety of web-based tools that foster information-sharing, discussion, and the motivation to learn more.

Goals

• Provide a valuable set of tools that allow citizens and institutions to collaborate meaningfully and effectively on public problems.
• Broaden the reach and effectiveness of civic participation by bringing easy-to use Internet and web tools into public processes — tools that foster. communication, sharing and learning.
• Create a “go to” space for online collective problem solving in Minnesota.
